swissregistrars is an association founded on March 14, 2007 in Zurich, whose aim, among other things, is to protect the common interests of the members working as registrars in Switzerland , to promote professional training and further education, and to develop technical relationships nationally and internationally to maintain the exchange of experiences.
“In a museum, a registrar acts as a hub between the board of trustees, conservation/restoration, museum technology and lending institutions.”
A registrar is also often professionally involved in the management and lending of objects from public and private collections, museums and galleries.
The tasks of a registrar can include: inventory and documentation of works, coordination of exhibitions, organization of packing, transport and insurance of loans, courier support for individual works or entire exhibitions.
